Authorized by Congress in 1996, and first minted in 1997, the 1 oz.1/2 oz.1/4 oz., and the 1/10 oz. American Eagle Platinum Bullion Coins are official investment-grade platinum bullion coins.

Although, these platinum bullion coins were very sought after by bullion investor's around the world, the bullion version of the 1/10 oz. Platinum American Eagle has not been produced since 2008.

Obverse

The obverse side of the platinum eagle is graced with a portrait of the Statue of Liberty.

John Mercanti, designed the obverse side of all American Eagle Platinum bullion coins, his initials are right above Lady Liberty's right shoulder,(narrated in the first person point of view).

"LIBERTY" is inscribed across the top of the coin.

"E PLURIBUS UNUM" is located, above the rim, on Liberty's right shoulder.

"IN GOD WE TRUST" is to the left of the Lady Liberty, under the year the coin was issued.

The Edge of the platinum coin is Reeded.








Reverse

The reverse side of the platinum bullion coin displays an American Eagle soaring across the setting sun.

Thomas D. Rogers designed the reverse side of the Platinum bullion coins.

His initials, "TDR" can be found to the lower left of the platinum coin, above the rim.

"UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" are inscribed directly above the soaring eagle, on the reverse side.

The face value of the coin "$10" is inscribed at the bottom of the coin.

"9995 PLATINUM 1/10 OZ." is displayed to the left of the American Eagle.

Note: Unlike the collector's Proof and Un-circulated versions of the Platinum coin, the American Eagle Platinum Bullion coin's reverse side does not change from year to year.
