Bullion Coin

All of the coins on the guide are narrated in the first person point of view; click this link for an explanation.

Obverse

The American Buffalo gold bullion coin's obverse and reverse sides feature images by the noted American sculptor James Earle Fraser, a pupil of Augustus Saint-Gaudens.

The Gold Buffalo takes its image from the "Indian Head," or "Buffalo Nickel" which was introduced in 1913.

1oz american buffalo gold bullion coin obv

The obverse side of the 1oz. Gold bullion coin depicts a Native American Indian Chief.

Fraser said he created the design by mixing the features of three Great Indian Chiefs from different American Indian tribes.

The three Indian Chiefs were Big Tree, Iron Tail, and Two Moons, all who posed as models, for him to sketch.

This side of the coin also displays the Year of Issue, which is located in the Indian's shoulder and the word "LIBERTY" inscribed at the top left of the bullion coin.  Note: the coin is narrated in the first person point of view.

The letter "F" is displayed directly below the year of issue, the "F" represents the first letter of James Earle Fraser's last name.

The Buffalo Gold Bullion Coin has no Mint Mark.

Reverse
