1/4 oz. Australian Lunar Gold Bullion Coin Series I & II

1996 - Present

The first series of Australian Lunar Gold Bullion Coins was started by The Perth Mint, with the Year of the Rat in 1996 and ended in 2007, with the Year of the Pig.

The Series II Lunar Gold Bullion coins began in 2008 with the Year of the Mouse and are scheduled to run through 2019.

The Australian Lunar Gold Coins - Bullion Series I & II, have raised and highly polished finishes, because of this the bullion coins often have higher premiums added to their sale price.

The Chinese Calendar,
a
Brief History

In 2637 B.C., a Chinese Emperor named Huangdi invented the Chinese Calendar.

The Lunar Calendar is steeped in tradition, based on the appearance of the new moon, the calendar associates a different animal with each year in a 12 year cycle.

The Chinese believe each animal has a profound influence on the personality of those born under the year of its rule.

2018 - Year of the Dog

The birth years for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar dog include 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006 and 2018.

Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be loyal, amiable, kind and friendly.   (The Perth Mint)
