Obverse
The 1 oz. American Eagle Gold Bullion Coin is based on world-renowned, American sculptor, Augustus Saint-Gaudens's design of the 1907 $20 gold coin.
The obverse design of the American Eagle Gold bullion coin depicts Lady Liberty in a flowing gown with windblown hair standing proudly over the U.S. Capitol in the lower background.
A torch is in Liberty's right hand, and an olive branch is in her left hand.
"LIBERTY" is inscribed along the top of the gold coin.
The Year of Issue for the gold bullion coin can be found below the olive branch.
The Edge of the coin is Reeded.
Note: From 1986 - 1991, American Eagle Gold coin had the Year of Issue stated in Roman Numerals. From 1992 to present, the year of issue has been numerical.
