My Opinion on the
Precious Metals Markets 
(Gold & Silver) 

Fundamentals Analysis:

I predicted in last month's newsletter that gold and silver would be range-bound until something would help them move higher, which happened in late August.

So what helped gold and silver move higher? 

We have plenty of uncertainty that is fueling the bull market in gold and silver. I often say "Uncertainty is Gold and Silver's Best Friend", and we got it in the form of multiple wars: Israel & Ukraine, plus Tariffs are still shaking things up and sending many in the market into a tizzy, even though all the inflation they've been predicting isn't materializing.

What is fueling this latest spike in gold and silver is the expectation of the Federal Reserve to cut Interest Rates. Plus, the financial media is hyping also the issue of the Federal Reserve's independence, and that Trump is threatening it.  First off, in my opinion, the Federal Reserve hasn't been independent for a long time.  

Alan Greenspan acted as a pawn for the presidents he served under, Ben Bernanke was influenced by Bush, and Janet Yellen was a pawn for Obama.  It's why the Federal Reserve is always late in responding to downturns in the market, because someone in the White House has their ear and is telling them to keep things at the status quo.

You could say that Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is independent because, as shown in the chart below, he raised rates throughout Trump's first term, then began lowering them just before COVID became an issue. During Biden's presidency, Powell kept interest rates low for an extended period despite rising inflation, a decision that may have been intended to support Biden but ultimately had negative consequences for him. Now, with Trump back in the White House, Powell is dragging his feet to lower interest rates again.

By looking at the chart, it looks like the only independence that Jerome Powell has towards this President is to do what doesn't work well for him or America.

The other issue concerning the Federal Reserve's independence is the issue with Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, who seems to have intentionally fudged some information on mortgage applications.

There is currently a Grand Jury in Atlanta looking into her actions, so we'll see what happens with her, but it would have been better accepted by the market had Trump waited until charges were brought against her before he fired her.

If there is sufficient evidence to indict her, then Trump should fire her; this should not cause any questioning of the Federal Reserve's independence. Instead, what we should be questioning is the "Merit" of Federal Reserve Governors.

Now, back to gold and silver. The recent increase in the prices of gold and silver can be attributed to expectations that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates. Plus, the latest jobs report, which indicates weak job growth, strengthens the likelihood of a rate cut during the Federal Reserve's upcoming meeting on September 17th.

Until then, I think we'll see more of the same with gold and silver moving higher with periods of consolidation. I don't give price targets, but in the Technical Analysis below, you will see Gold and Silver's resistance and support levels. 

Technical Analysis:

As previously noted, both gold and silver traded in a narrow range for most of last month, then rallied near month-end. During this consolidation, both metals formed "Positive Pennant" patterns, confirmed by subsequent upward breaks—a strong sign for both precious metals.

Because of the way gold and silver are moving right now, no new long-term patterns have formed in either chart; however, I put a note in the charts below that I am watching the lower indicators, MACD and Stochastic RSI, for an idea of what gold and silver will do in the near future.

Note: If there happens to be a Large Broad-Market Correction or Crash in the next four weeks, gold and silver usually, and likely will again, drastically fall in price as traders scramble for liquidity and will sell anything to find it.  Although the prices of silver and gold may fall in this type of market, they are also the quickest to recover after such events.

One Last Thing...

Embrace the belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born as God Incarnate, who willingly did the will of his Father (God) and died for you and shed his sinless blood so that your sins could be forgiven.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  John 3:16-17

When you reach out to God with a sincere heart and ask for forgiveness of your sins in Jesus' name, and repent. You will no longer be a slave to sin and will start walking a new path. You will be born again and be filled with the Holy Spirit and receive the gift of everlasting life..

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. - John 14:26

I encourage you to learn more about Jesus Christ by reading the New Testament of the Holy Bible. Talk/Pray to him like you would your best friend, and end your words with "in Jesus name, Amen" because there is power in his name.

When you believe in the Son of God, Jesus Christ, you'll see him make your paths straight and move mountains in your life.
