The Perth Mint's Series I, Australian Lunar Gold bullion coins started with the Year of the Mouse, in 1996, and ended in 2007 with the Year of the Pig.
The Series II Lunar gold bullion coins began in 2008 and ended in 2019; now the Series III edition of the gold coins has started with a revised design for both sides of the coin.
The Australian Lunar Gold Bullion Coin Series has raised and highly polished finishes, which often bring higher premiums to their sale price.
