1/10th oz. Australian Lunar Gold Bullion Coin
Series I, II, and III

1996 - Present

The Perth Mint's first Australian Lunar Gold Bullion Coins started with the Year of the Mouse/Rat, in 1996, and ended in 2007 with the Year of the Pig.

The Series II Lunar Gold coins began in 2008 and ended in 2019, now the Series III edition of the bullion coins have started with a revised design for both sides of the coin.

The Australian Lunar Gold Bullion Coin Series has raised and highly polished finishes, which often bring higher premiums to their sale price.

The Chinese Calendar,
a
Brief History

In 2637 B.C., a Chinese Emperor named Huangdi invented the Chinese Calendar.

The Chinese calendar is based on a twelve-year cycle of astronomical observations of the sun and the phases of the moon.

Each year in that twelve-year cycle has an animal sign.  The animal signs are: mouse, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

The Chinese believe each animal has a profound influence on those born under the year of its rule.
