Obverse
The obverse side of the Canadian Silver bullion coin displays the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt.
Susanna Blunt's initials, "SB" are inscribed under the queen's collar, on her shoulder.
Inscribed across the top of the Silver Maple Leaf bullion coin is "ELIZABETH II."
Along the bottom of the coin is its Face Value of "5 DOLLARS."
The coin's Year of Issue is also inscribed along the bottom of the each of the Canadian silver bullion coins.
In 2014, the Royal Canadian Mint added the radial lines to make it harder for counterfeiter's to reproduce the coins, these lines are inscribed on both sides of the silver bullion coin.
Reverse
The reverse side of the Canadian Silver bullion coins features the national symbol of Canada, the Maple Leaf.
Inscribed along the top of the silver bullion coin is "CANADA."
Inscribed
at the bottom of the silver bullion coin is "FINE SILVER, 1 OZ, ARGENT
PUR" the coin's Fineness and Weight in both the English and French languages.
The coins' purity, in mathematical terms of "9999" is inscribed on both sides of the maple leaf.
The edge of the silver coin is Reeded.
In 2013, the Royal Canadian Mint added a security feature to the 1oz. Canadian Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin's reverse side.
In 2014, the RCM started to add this feature to the reverse side of the 1oz. Canadian Silver Maple Leaf bullion coin.
The RCM's security mark is a Micro-Engraved Maple Leaf design produced by the Mint’s use of laser technology.
Inside of the laser engraved maple leaf is the numeral “17” indicating the coin’s year of issue, which is more easily visible under magnification.
